English defender Harry Maguire made a high profile move last August from Leicester City to Manchester United. How has he adapted to his new surroundings?

His WR (work rate, attempted actions per minute) at United is at 0.86 which is virtually identical to his 0.85 WR with Leicester last season.

Leicester finished 9th last season and Manchester United are currently 5th. However, there is little difference in his defensive VPM which 5.5 and 5.3 respectively. This figure is quite good for a player in a team in the top half where you’d expect they’re not under as much pressure as lower-placed teams.

In attack, there is a slightly larger gap of 0.4 with Maguire bringing more value to his Leicester side than he does currently with United. Both figures are once again quite good for a centre back.

With his overall VPM and WR showing little change, it is hard to argue that Manchester United got what they paid for with Maguire’s game largely remaining consistent.
